ASA slams Activision's wonderful ads for Call of Duty series.

Mmmmm... very tasty piece of news. So, companies call it common practice, eh? I wonder how much of Killzone is truth as advertised...

"What you see is what you get" is normally true. This does seem to be false advertising on Activision's part.

Sorry to say but some of the top selling console games (Final Fantasy, Resident Evil) are advertised only using pre rendered video that has nothing to do with the gameplay graphics.

But in this case - will they make separate ads for Britan and continue using the pre rendered graphics in ads for the rest of the world?

Actually, I think this incident makes company a bit more cautious on doing their dastardly deeds. Probably until the issue dies down.

And Ante, the article refers to pre-rendered scenes... doctored... touched up... whatever you want to call it. Using pre-rendered fmv cutscenes that are existing in the game (the video itself) is fine. That means, no special doctoring specifically for the advert.
