[Solved] Syberia2 Mouse Problem

Postby esztersys » Wed 4 Feb 2009 14:00

Hi, In Syberia2 my mouse isn't working in game. I can use it on the menu but not in game. The mouse disappears when I start the game. Is there any way to resolve this problem, please?

Same problem:

running Syberia II Mouse Pointer is not visible on ingame screen. If u move the mouse to the upper left screen corner the pointer is visible, if u move it into the game the pointer disapears. BTW if u switsch to Syberia Menues the Mouse Pointer works.

Don't tell me to buy a new mouse. It looks like a graphic engine problem.

Syberia II is running on a lenovo X301 under XP...

I tried to switch Syberia on Win98 compatibiliy mode but that does not solve the problem. :stress:

Any ideas?

Thx,

Skul

Hi Skul & Welcome,

1) i never said you have to buy another mouse, i just said give a try to an other mouse (an old one is better test)
2) the problem can have multiple causes, video card, mouse itself or windows settings
3) do you experience problem with Syb 2 program only ?
4) what happens if you unplug and plug again the mouse during the game ?
5) re-install or update the mouse driver if cordless mouse
6) what kind of graphic card do you own ? try to reduce performances in video card setting panel
7) try to reduce graphic performances in the game setting panel
8 ) see you soon

Hi Pifou,

thx for quick response.

-> 3: Syb 1 worked fine
-> 4: Plug / unplug mouse does not solve the problem
-> 5: it's not a cordless mouse
-> 6: Intel GMA X4500MHD graphics card
-> 7: reducing graphic levels has no effects

It's a bit strange, cause the pointer is visible on menues and on the left upper ingame corner. May it's caused somewhere on graphic card support - but who knows. So if you have any ideas.

Greetings

Pifou,

yeah that will be fine. Did some earch on Google but had no results on that special issue.

I checked Intels graphic chipset, and the only thing I found was, the the GMA X4500MHD fully supports DirectX 10.

So if you have any further hint....

Regards

Hello,

After discussion with my friend try :
1) Reduce hardware acceleration of graphic card
- right clic on your screen (windows desk) > Properties > Parameters > Advanced > Troubleshoot tab > move the hardware acceleration slider one step before "Full" to the left > ok ok

if this does not work, put it again to "Full" and try :
2) Goto Control Panel > Mouse settings > Pointer options > enable "display pointer trails"

notes :
- i'm pretty sure it's not a mouse problem
- i'm sure it's not a game problem (we are thousand of gamers playing Syb2 with similar configuration like yours)
- i have seen on the NVidia forum (i know you are running Intel video chip) they experienced the same problem because of a new driver... --> they solved the problem by downgrading the video driver...
- some others talked about virus doing that problem... scan your computer
- contact Microïds tech support team because i don't know what to do anymore... :D

Hi Pifou,

thx for your response and advice. Unfortunately my problem is still unsolved.

I'am also very sure that the trouble is not caused by mouse hardware or mouse drivers. It's also not related to general system problems e.g. virus infection.

May be it's the graphic card driver. But at that point I won't downgrade my card driver, cause I only want to run my system by actual driver settings.

So I become stuck. :desperate:

Re: Syberia2 Mouse Problem

I am running Syberia II from the Collector's Edition on my Macbook laptop with a Intel GMA x3100 graphics hardware under Windows XP Professional, and I was having the exact same problem. The mouse cursor was visible and usable in menu, but was invisible in the game except for a small area in the upper-left corner, just like the earlier poster. Also, the mouse cursor was working just fine in Syberia I.

After I saw this thread, I realized that we had both had Intel GMA chipsets, so the problem must be with the graphics hardware. I updated my graphics drivers with the latest for my graphics hardware (downloaded from the Intel website), the most recent of which was from 1/17/2009. That solved it: after installing and rebooting, I was able to see and use the mouse cursor. Anyone seeing this problem should try to upgrade to the latest Intel drivers.
