Have you played Amerzone?

Postby avskum » Fri 18 May 2007 23:47

Hello. Have any of you played the first Benoit Sokal game - Amerzone ? i finished it yesterday. I played it on a brand new computer with vista, but it went fine! And i found it for only 10 kronor ( about a dollar or a euro ) on a cheap supermarket. What a bargain!

It is very good, but not as good as Syberia. The graphics are of course a bit cruder, the colours are much darker, and one thing that is a bit boring is that the whole game is in 1st person view and you never get so see or hear the main charachter talk.

But still very good and stunningly beautiful, especially the cut scenes.

Glad you could play Amerzone. I too enjoyed this game. Walking under water was a new experience in a game for me. :D

yes, Amerzone is a great game...
the only disadvantage is that it is an old game...
i would appreciate very much if it could be remasterized with modern softwares...

I haven't played it, but I think they made the game in 1st person so the player would feel that he/she was in charge and not just 'following' another charachter, if you understand what I mean, and then it wouldn't be possible to hear what the main charachter says, because the real main charachter is the person playing the game..

I talk too much of something I know nothing of :-/

10 kroner is very cheap! Is the game in a good condition then?

Another of my fav-games is almost ten years old, and it can be played perfectly in XP, and to be able to do that, you just need to know how...

(That sort of leaves a big gap)

And haven't we both enjoyed it?

yes it wasn´t used. It was brand new. The cover wasn´t very appealing, grey and blurry ( like the cover of the old book in the inventory) and it said nothing on the back of the cover either. http://www.abcgames.sk/?p=cdobaly_zobraz&ID=227

Hadn´t i know what it was, hadn´t i already played Syberia i would never have noticed this game, let alone bought it.

By the way - i didn´t know Amerzone was also realeased to Playstation: http://www.vgames-vjuegos.us/catalog/Amerzone.jpg

So was Syberia II, but not Syberia I, right ?

This is what my boxed version of Amerzone looks like with a cover that opens up to very colorful screen shots of the game. Bet you are glad you bought it. :)

xcuse me for the late answer...
in collector editions you can find (in france) low price packs (approx. $15) with :
- Amerzone, Syb1 + Syb2 or
- Amerzone + Syb1 and extras or
- Syb1 + Syb2 + 30 mn making off and pictures of Syberia universe...

the game's too old for me to play it now. :(
dated visual will disable me from enjoying the game.
