Calendar and Birthday Mods - Tutorial

Postby imagine » Thu 15 Dec 2005 13:33

Those mods have been created and installed so enjoy (i hope so)

Here a little tutorial:

At the top of the index page you can see the calendar link :
When you enter the calendar page you get something like that:

Nothing difficult here:
1- Link to go back to the index page
2- On each corner you can see a link with the next or previous month, if you click on one of them you'll see the corresponding month ;)
3- Today: red number and inset effect!
4- The day under the mouse, when clicking on it the date corresponding is applied to a form (I talk about it after)
5- An event: the name of the event. When the mouse is over i,t a popup buble appears with event's details.
If the event have a link, when clicking on it or in the link indication in the popup buble (6) you will be redirected to the link!
"Lien" is the french word for Link ;) (too much tired to made another screen :D )

At the end of the page you can see a form (Here it is)
A little little little bit more difficult but nothing impossible ;)
Here you can add an event which is interresting!

7- The name of the event, the smallest as possible (for better display) less than 60 chars!
8- The date, you have to type the year by yourself (maybe if you want I add a listbox later)
It's here that the date is update when you click on a day of the calendar!
9- The link of the event, if you encounter problems send me a PM!
10- Descriptions of the event, ... what you want but not a book! :D

All new event added is reported to admins and moderators, just in case ;)

-At the bottom of the index page you have two new informations:
As you can see in this example, it's a test and today test is 49 year old!
There also are no member's birthday in the next 7 days!

-You can modify your birthday in your profile page:
in the middle there is something like that:
or the date is replaced by indents which mean you won't give your birthday! (actual state)
There is also a checkbox which enable or not the age display!
If I check it for test example, there would be this displayed on the index page:

-The profile view page now have the birthday information:
and with the "Hide my age" checkbox enabled:

Birthday of every members can be found on the calendar except if he hasn't left the indents ;)

Here it is, you know all.
Have a nice day!

Bug correction 12/17/2005:

In the calendar, details with more than one line were badly manadge!
I discover this bug when I look at the event in february (Depeche Mode's Concert)! thanks Pifou ;)

I profited from it for adding smilies support ;) :D
(strange sentence, is that good?)

And so on, something great for birthday "event"!
