The player has eight fabulously original worlds to explore:
It is in this alpine village that Kate begins her adventure. She has the choice of visiting an inn, meeting the locals, exploring the cemetery, searching for clues in the church and visiting the famous Voralberg automaton factory.
A highly renowed university town. Here, Kate will find traces of the passage of Hans Voralberg, bringing her to the realization that if her mandate is to succeed she will have to continue her voyage.
What’s hiding behind the sinister walls of this factory that seems to belong in a madman’s nightmare? Who can Kate trust? A slightly demented factory manager or an astronaut with erratic behavior?
A seaside destination formerly patronized by high-level Russian dignitaries ; it’s now abandoned… its clientele, like the sea, having turned their back on it several years ago. It is here that Kate will find a failed opera singer and will also understand that Hans Voralberg is not very far away.
The last trading post before the vast northern ranges ; a place of refuge for all and sundry - a little ragamuffin of seven, an aged drunk, riffraff of every stripe. The hamlet’s strange architecture harshly divides the residents of Upper Town from those who toil in Under Town. A discharged Cossack keeps strict watch over everyone.
The Great North:
An intermediate region between the habitable lands to the south and the frozen lands beyond, where only the Youkols can survive. An immense forest interwoven with hills, brooks and ravines ; a home for animals of all kinds, from small lemmings to massive bears. At one edge of the forest, a mountain; on its summit, a radio tower stands, the last vestige of modern humanity in the region.
The Youkol village:
An amazing structure that houses the entire Youkol tribe. It resembles a huge grotto inside which the cave-like dwellings of the tribes people are to be found. Here, the railroad comes to an end ; Kate must abandon the train and continue on foot.
Behind a protective ring of icebergs lies the mythical island of Syberia, forever shrouded in fog. Ancient structures dedicated to the mammoth-cult can be discerned. Strangely, the central plains are covered in long blue grass that waves here and there in the wind. Perhaps the creatures that Hans has sought for so long are hiding beyond…
